weekend in review : )

We enjoyed such a nice weekend.
Our low key Friday night included a dinner at Waffle House and visit with Da.

H and Da snuggled up watching some cartoons.
Love the sweet moments with my boy and one of his namesakes.

Unfortunately, the mister had some work meetings to attend on Saturday. Work on Saturday isn't really the norm around here, thank the Lord. But.... since dad was working, we played. We kidnapped DeeDee and took a trip to the mall. Fun was had by us all, but the kiddos got tired of shopping by mid-afternoon and we headed home.

She'll kill me one day for this, but her faces crack me up!

This boy is so funny. Such a cheesy boy!

We made it home just in time to cheer on our Dawgs. No fun pictures to show from our game time with G because we were all too busy yelling and screaming and jumping up and down like crazies....... all worth it though, as our dawgs pulled out the win against those pesky gators from the South. (we love you Florida family..... it's just too fun not to rub it in, since we have the chance)
After Sunday church, we built a giant bonfire and cleaned out some of the woods behind our house. We're hoping to achieve more of a lawn than woods. The little people worked super hard helping pick up sticks and tossing them to the fire.

He likes to take pictures of himself and mommy : )

for the record, this is not an intentional 'duck face'. but his face cracks me up!

finally talked camera shy sister to join in! Love these kiddos!

Love these wonderful fall weekends with my family!

Something Sweet Saturday

This little guy spent last Saturday at the BMX track.

To say he loves it, would be an understatement.

I think my little man may have found his 'thing'.

He wasn't ready to leave. even after his first bloody nose.

He wanted to race with the 10 year old kids.....because they were his 'same size'. So now we know how big he thinks he is....pray for me. He has NO fear.

I thought it would be terrifying to see his little teeny body out there jumping hills and riding like a crazy boy. But it was awesome. He loves it, and so do I.

For the tough times....

a self pep talk.

Most days, I have high expectations. I plan on being super productive: cleaning, doing laundry, cooking dinner, running errands. Maybe writing and creating and spending quality craft/learning time with the kids. I plan for lots of laughs, hugs, kisses, snuggles and 'i love you's.

Sometimes, my day meets my expectations. Other days?

Some days, the kids wake up super early. grumpy. They whine and cry. fight like cats and dogs. nothing is right or acceptable. I may stump my toe 5693489 times before 10am on trucks and dolls strewn everywhere.  I spend more time correcting the kids than loving on them. These moments may last all day or for 5 minutes. And I don't like these times, not one bit.

Some moments are just hard. tough. Nothing goes as planned. Everyone is in a bad mood. We may not feel 100%.

In these moments, I need to work on staying positive and thankful, even when I'm disappointed, stressed, irritated. Why? Because there are so many people who would give anything to be in that very position. surrounded by their healthy kids, toys and laundry and a house that needs to be cleaned. Even when it's not's still wonderful. a blessing to have these two munchkins running around, a house to clean, laundry to do.

And these not ideal moments? They are so far outweighed by the good times, the snuggles, the laughs, the kisses and hugs. I shouldn't let them bring me down.

And some snapshots of the fun, sweet times.

Happy Fall, Y'all!

We are so excited for fall weather!

I'm finally getting our fall decorations out. Hopefully, I finish that today.

Yesterday, we celebrated fall at preschool. Every year, they have a neat little festival set up for the kids. It's great because it doesn't involve lots of candy kids on sugar highs, just games and crafts and hayrides and pumpkins. Of course, the hayride is the favorite around our house!

We are hoping to spend lots of time outdoors this weekend and enjoy this fall weather.

Read bonfires, camping, s'mores...can't wait!

Wednesday Randoms

Just some random thoughts and moments to share : )

  • Last night, Addi finished up her first season of 5-6 softball. I could do an entire post on the season itself, but I need to collect pictures from our families first. Trey and I were either on the field or in the dugout so I don't have many pictures. Our little team did so great. They learned a ton and really had a good end of the season. Addi loves first base! She just smiles and smiles when she gets an out.

  • We were late getting to preschool this morning. A certain little man decided to sleep until 8am and his sister slept until 830! Hallelujah! Two late nights at the ballpark will do that to you, I suppose.

  • Hutt got to go down the bouncy slide in PE today! I had his sweet teacher send me a picture of him. He's too speedy to get many pictures. He was SO excited though.

  • This morning, I had to go get Addi from school early. (yes. late to school. picked up early. winners.) She had a bad headache and just wasn't acting herself. Her teacher said she didn't have her 'sparkle' and that just wasn't normal. She seems better tonight. Hopefully, she's just dealing with being tired and a little allergy issues.

  • Hutt got to have a sweet lunch date with his G today! I think he really enjoyed not having to share the spotlight! : ) A little special one on one time is good for everybody.

  • After good naps this afternoon, I caught these two cuties playing manger scene together. It's rare to catch sweet moments of play on camera. Addi always runs from me. Hutt is normally to quick to get anything but a blur. Mommy wins today.

  • We're excited to get back into a normal routine around here. Lots of time at the ball field and just life, in general, has been hectic around here. It's been nice tonight to have some time 'off'.... to just be here. together.

My baby boy is 3!

Three years ago today, we welcomed the sweetest little baby boy into our lives. His first several weeks were scary and stressful. We struggled, were afraid and worried. But our fighter did just that, he fought. TEF is no picnic, but I would do it all over again if it meant I got my boy.

Hutt Man,

You are three years old. I have no clue how your three years have flown by so quickly. We are so thankful that God chose us to be your parents. You truly are a gift from above.
You have a contagious personality. You're hilarious, daring, sweet, and caring. You're mama's boy and a super snuggly cuddle bear!
Every single day, you are taller and bigger, smarter and more talkative. You know SO much. We are constantly amazed at the things you remember and know about.
You never meet a stranger, which can be a bit scary. You love meeting new people and making new friends. Making people laugh is your specialty.
You love going to the BMX track and practicing on your bike. It is definitely one of your first loves. You really like football and racing too. You've learned to recognize the Packers and Georgia Bulldogs. You love going to Athens on game day and cheering for the dawgs! You also keep telling us that you want to go to a Packers game.
Baby boy, you are pure joy. Daddy and I love you to pieces. We are so very proud of you and can't wait to see what the Lord has in store for your life. You are the perfect baby boy for our family! We couldn't be any happier that you are ours!

I love you, baby boy!

five! 5! FIVE!

Where has the time gone?

She's five. 5! FIVE!

Baby girl, when in the world did you get so big? so grown? I know I say this all the time and ask you how you've grown up so quickly, but it doesn't even seem possible for you to be five. Somedays, it seems like we just welcomed you into our family yesterday and have had you forever at the same time.
Addi Kate, you are certainly the most precious, incredibly beautiful, perfect girl for our family. You're funny and serious. bossy and willing to please. smart as a whip. pure joy. talented. caring. You're shy around new people, never quick to jump right in to new groups or situations. But. Let you warm up and you are a bundle of silliness and giggles.
You are the perfect mix of girly girl and rough-and-tumble, in-the-dirt girl. You always.always.always have a baby doll. Loving, swaddling, changing and feeding babies is your specialty. That's a little character trait that you may have gotten from me, baby girl. We love our babies and taking care of other people. You definitely have your daddy's athletic ability. Softball is definitely your first sport love. Not much makes you happier than practice or games with your team. Daddy and I have loved watching you make friends on the field. We know that these girls will likely be some of your best friends. You were just introduced to your first set of golf clubs for your birthday. It may not be as natural to you as your first time with a bat and ball, but you're going to be great at golf too. Just set your mind to it and you'll be besting daddy and II at the driving range in no time.
You really enjoy school. Everyday, you ask if it's a school day. Daddy and I are so glad that you love school. You're incredibly smart. You can write your letters, your entire name, our pets' names. You're even starting to recognize and read some words! Some of your proudest accomplishments at school and Sunday school are memorizing your Bible verses. You have a new verse each month at school and every couple of weeks at Sunday school.
We love you more than you will ever know, sweet girl. You make us so proud. Hutt absolutely adores you. You two are the very best of friends.

I love you baby!

A Day of Silence for the Turners

I'm observing a blog day of silence for the Turner family. Please join me in praying for their family today during this time of loss. You can read more about their story at
